There are two elements in product modifiers: modifier options, which are the selections presented to shoppers on the storefront, and modifier rules, which correspond to individual modifier options and update the product’s price and weight accordingly.
• For adding product variants in bigcommerce follow the given steps
Step 1: First, log in to your control panel and go to Products > View (If you are creating variants for the existing product) and click on the product which you want to update or Product > Add (If you are trying to create), and then click on the variants.
Step 2: Then, click on the Add Variant Option.
Step 3: After that, click on the Add Variant Option button to add variant options otherwise you can click on Add Shared Varient Options if you have created Shared Varients.
Step 4: Create your Variant Options.

Name: Name for the variant option like Size, color, etc.
Delete Option: For deleting the variant options.

- Swatch: With this type, you can display different colors for products by entering a hex code. This is very useful when if you have a product with different colors.
- Radio Button: This type will display the product options in a single column in radio button form.
- Rectangle List: This type will display the product options in rectangle form.
- DropDown: This type will display the product options as a dropdown.

Step 5: To save, click on the save variant button.
Step 6: After saving the variant options, you can set the price for all the variants, and images for each variant. You can also add the stock level if you have selected inventory on the variant level. While Sku is auto-generated but you can edit it if you want.
Step 7: Finally, you can click the Save button.
For adding product Modifiers in bigcommerce follow the given steps
Step 1: First, log in to your control panel and go to Products > View (If you are creating variants for the existing product) and click on the product which you want to update or Product > Add (If you are trying to create), and then click on the Customizations.
Step 2: Click on the +Add Modifier Option to add a modifier.
Step 3: Click on the +Add Modifire Options to create modifier options or you can add the shared Modifier options if you have already created any.
Step 4: Give a name for the modifier option and select a type as you like or according to your need.
Types:
- Multiple Choice: (Swatch, Radio Buttons, Rectangle List, Dropdown)
- Pick List: (Pick List)
- Other: (Text Field, Numbers Only Text Field, Date Field, Multi-line Text Field, Checkbox, File Upload)
Step 5: Then, config the modifier option as you want based on your selected type. Your modifier options can also be set to default values like variants. It is also possible to make them required or optional for purchase. As a result, you can offer shoppers the option to opt-out without manually creating a “none” option. And then, click on the Create Option button to create the option.
Step 6: To add the rules click on the Add Rule button.
Step 7:Then, choose a product modifier option.
Step 8: Check the checkbox of Adjust Price or Adjust Weight to set the rule on them. you can apply the rule to Add or Remove Weight from the Adjust Weight and price from the Adjust Price section by selecting and giving the amount how much you want to Add or Remove.
Step 9: And then, click on the Update Rules Button to add the rule.
Step 10: Lastly, click on the save button to save the product.
Note: Rules can be added after adding Multiple Choice, Pick List, or Checkbox modifier options.
