You can save time by using shared variant and modifier options by creating them and applying them to the products. For example, if you have a bunch of products with the same variants or modifiers, you can apply them collectively. This eliminates the need to repeat the adding process for each product. This approach streamlines workflow and reduces redundant tasks.
The shared variant and modifier options can be created and applied by reading and following the given information
You can create shared variant and modifier options using two ways:
- By using the API
- Through the control panel
but we prefer the second option to create shared variant and modifier options because it is the easiest way to create in comparison to creating by using the API.
To create and apply shared variant options through the control panel follow the given steps
Limitations of shared variant options
- You can’t edit or customize shared variant options at the product level.
- Editing any shared variant option automatically generates variants with unique SKUs.
- If a shared variant option is added to any product, it cannot be deleted.
Step 1: Go to the Product > Product Options and click on the + Add shared option.
Step 2: And then, add all the basic information in their fields.
- Display label: This text describes the option on the storefront, like Color, and size.
- Option name: This text specifies this shared variant option in the control panel only despite, showing on the storefront.
- Type: Select the display type of the option on the storefront (Dropdown, Radio Buttons, Rectangle List, or Swatch).
Step 3: Then, add the option values.
Step 4: Then, Save the shared option by clicking on the Save button.
Step 5: While creating the products variant click on the + Add Shared Variant Option.
Step 6: And then, select the variant options and click on Add to add the variant option to the product.
To create and apply shared modifiers options through the control panel follow the given steps
Limitation of Shared Modifier Options
- You cannot edit or customize shared modifier options on the product level.
- Editing a shared modifier option updates every product to which it is applied.
- You cannot delete a shared modifier option if it is currently associated with a product.
Step 1: Go to the Product > Product Options and click + Add shared modifier to add new or you can also edit an existing one by clicking on the menu button and selecting the edit option.
Step 2: And then, add all the basic information in their fields.
- Display label: This text describes the option on the storefront, such as color, size, etc.
- Option name: This text specifies this shared variant option in the control panel only.
- Type: Select the display type of the option on the storefront.
- Required: This checkbox specifies whether a modifier option is required for purchase, or it is optional.
Step 3: Then, add the options values.
Step 4: Then, save the modifier option by clicking the Save button.
Step 5: While adding the product modifier, click on the + Add Shared Modifier Options button to add the shared modifier option.
Step 6: Select the modifier option and then, click the Add Button.
