General

  • Search behavior:- In this section, you can adjust the settings for how the search function processes a multi-word search query and the conditions that trigger the search function by choosing the “AND”, “OR” Search function.

  1. “ANDSearch:- If you choose this function, it will show search results that match every single element of the entered search term.

Example:- “Beach ballwill find search results that contain both search terms “beach” and “ball”.

2. “ORSearch:- If you choose this function, it will show search results that match any element of the entered search term.

Example:- “Beach ball” will find search results that contain either the search term “beach” or the search term “summer”.

3. Minimal search term length:- Enter the minimal search term length which is reached once when the search is triggered.

Searchable content

The table below displays all the searchable content. You have the ability to customize the search results in your Sales Channels by excluding certain content from being searchable or adjusting the ranking of each element according to your preferences. Elements with higher rankings will have a greater “search value” and will appear higher in the search results. This customizable feature applies to the content divided into multiple sections, enabling you to assign specific rankings to each section.

  • Reset to default:- If you click on this button, it will reset the default searchable content.
  • Show example:- This will show the example of search ranking.
  • Rebuild search index:- You can rebuild the search index on the live search.
  • General:- You can view and configure the default searchable content.
  • Custom fields:- You can view and configure the custom searchable content.

  • Content:- This feature allows you to define the handling of specific content by the search function. You have the ability to customize and specify how a particular piece of content should be treated and processed within the search functionality.
    • Category name:- The category name assigned to the products for search is referred to as the “search category.” The products that belong to this category can be found in this section. 
    • Custom search terms:- On the product page, these are the search keyword that you have entered.
    • Product description:- You can find this on the product page under the general information section.
    • Product EAN:- On the product page under the section labeling, the EAN number is stored.
    • Manufacturer custom fields:- To access this feature, you will need to navigate to the Settings section and select System. From there, you can find the option for Custom fields. This functionality should be assigned to the manufacturer and utilize either a text field or a number field type.
    • Manufacturer name:- the manufacturer name.
    • Manufacturer number:- This is found on the product page under the manufacturer number.
    • Product meta description:- You can find it on the product page under the tab SEO.
    • Product meta title:-  You can find it on the product page under the tab SEO.
    • Product name:- The product name.
    • Property value:- These are the product property values e.g. tea, salt, black, orange. etc.
    • Product number:- The product number.
    • Property name:- These are the product properties e.g. ingredients, color, and size.
    • Product tag:– You can enter the tags on the product page.
  • Searchable:– This setting determines whether the item is considered during the search process.
  • Ranking score:– This attribute specifies the level of importance given to the content. A higher value indicates greater significance.
  • Split search terms:- When enabled, this feature splits search terms containing special characters like “-“, “/”, etc. For example, with the product number “PT-64/515,” enabling this option would search for “PT,” “64,” and “515.” If disabled, the search would treat “PT-64/515” as a single term.
  • Menu:- This menu provides an option to reset specific content back to its default value.

If you want to add the Custom field, click on “Add searchable content” A blank line will be shown, to edit it double-click. Now you can choose the custom field from the drop-down menu.

Excluded search terms

In this section, you can add all keywords that should be excluded from the search.

  • Search bar:- You can search all excluded terms in this section.
  • Exclude search Term:- You can add a new term to the exclusion list.
  • Empty bar:- This option becomes visible only after you click on “Exclude Search Term.” You can then enter the term you wish to exclude and confirm it by clicking on the blue check mark.
  • Menu:- By utilizing this function, you can effectively remove terms from your exclusion list. This action will hide the delete option for the specific terms you choose to remove.
  • Excluded terms:- Below, you will find a comprehensive list of all the excluded terms. Please note that the list may extend over multiple pages.
  • Drop down menu:- To increase the number of excluded terms displayed per page, you can select the desired number from the available options provided. This will adjust the pagination and show a higher quantity of excluded terms on each page.

To update your search index, click on the “Rebuild Search Index” button. Next to the button, you will also be able to see the date and time of the last update for reference.

Note:- If the search index is being rebuilt you can see the progress. Please note that it’s mandatory to keep the window open while the index is being rebuilt.

This section will let you preview the search results on a sales channel base without having to visit the frontend of your website.

  • Select a sales channel:- Choose the sales channel in which you want to test.
  • Search:- Enter the term to test.
  • Show example:- When you open this section, a modal will appear containing search ranking examples. This modal provides you with illustrative instances that demonstrate how search results are ranked based on specific criteria. It serves as a helpful reference to understand and analyze the ranking mechanisms employed in the search functionality.
