To assess the impact of direct links from various platforms on sales, you can utilize a marketing tool. By offering partners a percentage of the sales generated through their referrals, you encourage them to feature your articles on their portals.
Partner marketing not only helps attract partners but also enables you to track the origin of customers, whether it’s a specific comparison portal or a price search engine.
The first step is to create a unique partner URL with an individual code for each partner. This URL will be used by customers to access your store, and it ensures that your partners only link to you using the provided URL.
When a customer places an order or registers on your website using the partner’s designated link, the code associated with that partner is stored in the order or customer account. This allows you to analyze and evaluate the performance of each partner at a later stage.
Note:- The provided information suggests that the codes associated with partners are stored in the database, and no cookies are utilized for this functionality. As a result, the individual links do not have an expiration date. Whenever a customer accesses the store using the corresponding URL containing the affiliate code or campaign code, the code is consistently saved during the order or registration process. Please note that the exact technical implementation may vary based on the specific system and setup used for tracking and storing the affiliate codes.
Creating an affiliate URL
In Shopware 6 Admin, partner URLs will not be created. Instead, you can generate the URLs by adding the appropriate syntax to your shop URL directly. These URLs can then be shared with your partners who will use them to link to your store.
Affiliate URL
One option available to you is to generate distinct partner URLs for each partner. This allows you to monitor the origin of customers by identifying which partner directed them to your shop.
To achieve this, you simply append the term “?affiliateCode=” to the address of your store, followed by the code you specify.
For instance, if you choose “IndividualCode” as the code, the resulting URLs would look like this:
- http://www.demoshop.com/categoryname/?affiliateCode=IndividualCode
Campaign URL
Another option is to generate campaign URLs that allow you to filter and track customers and orders originating from specific banners or ads.
To create a campaign URL, you add the term “?campaignCode=” to your shop’s address, followed by a code of your choosing.
For example, if you use the code “IndividualCode,” the resulting URLs would be:
- http://www.demoshop.com/categoryname/?campaignCode=IndividualCode
Combined URL
To ensure comprehensive tracking and differentiation between partners and campaigns, it is indeed beneficial to generate both a partner code and a campaign code. By combining these codes, you can effectively monitor and analyze customer interactions.
In such instances, the URL structure would appear as follows:
- http://www.myshopurl.com/categoryname/?affiliateCode=MyAffiliateCode&campaignCode=MyCampaignCode
By incorporating the partner code after “?affiliateCode=” and the campaign code after “?campaignCode=“, you can create URLs that integrate both tracking elements. This approach enables you to identify the partner and campaign that influenced customer engagement, providing valuable insights into the effectiveness of your marketing strategies.
Codes Filtering
In the Shopware administration, you can easily access the codes used in the customer overview and order overview.
To include the “Affiliate Code” and “Campaign Code” columns in these overviews, you can utilize the context menu within the column row. By selecting the appropriate options from the context menu, you can display these columns and conveniently view the associated codes.
Additionally, in the overviews, you have the option to utilize the filter menu to selectively display customers or orders that have a specific code.
Note:- In the customer overview, the code is allocated to the customer exclusively when they register on your shop via the designated URL. If a customer who is already registered places an order through the URL, they will not receive a new code assigned to them in the customer overview. However, in the order overview, the code is linked to the order, whether the customer is a new registrant or an existing customer.
