Bay20 Smart Cart Boost Shopware Plugin: Let Your Own Sales Data Build Your Shopware Cross-Sells

shopware

Every Shopware merchant knows cross-selling works. Almost nobody keeps it up. Setting related products manually for a 2,000-SKU catalogue is a job nobody has time for, and six months later those hand-picked suggestions are stale, sold out, or plain wrong. Bay20 Smart Cart Boost solves this by removing the manual work entirely — it builds your “Frequently bought together” recommendations from your real order history.

How it works

The plugin runs a Jaccard co-occurrence engine — the same statistical approach behind Amazon’s recommendations — across your last 12 months of orders. It scores which products genuinely get purchased together, filters out noise like gift cards and freebies, and drops the results straight into your cart page and offcanvas drawer.

No product-by-product configuration. No spreadsheet. You switch it on, and it learns from what your customers are actually buying.

Built to be genuinely usable

A recommendation engine is only as good as the guardrails around it, and this is where Smart Cart Boost earns its place:

  • Stock-aware — sold-out products never appear as suggestions, with an optional low-stock threshold to hide near-empty lines too.
  • Cart deduplication — it will not suggest something already sitting in the basket.
  • Anti-pollution filters — a maximum-frequency cap and minimum-support threshold stop high-volume items dominating every recommendation.
  • Hard blocklist — mark any product as never-recommend, regardless of how often it co-occurs.
  • Cold-start fallbacks — new store or thin data? The section falls back to category bestsellers, then manufacturer products, then store-wide bestsellers. It is never empty.

Fits how your store actually runs

Three modes let you decide how much control to hand over. Hybrid (the default) reads your existing Shopware manual cross-sells first and lets the engine fill the gaps — so nothing you have already built gets thrown away. AI-only and Manual-only are there when you want one or the other.

Everything is configurable per sales channel with inherit-from-default toggles, plus customer-group targeting. You get five cart-page positions, grid or slider layouts, and 3/6/9/12 items per surface. Twig blocks, SCSS hooks and data-attributes are exposed for custom themes.

Fast and privacy-first

Recommendations rebuild weekly on autopilot via Shopware’s scheduled tasks, with a CLI command for an immediate refresh. The heavy calculation runs offline — at runtime it is a single indexed lookup, so cart page speed is untouched.

On GDPR, the engine reads only product IDs and order timestamps. No customer records, no addresses, no IPs, no cookies, no session data — ever. That is a meaningfully cleaner position than most personalisation tools on the market.
